Over the years I’ve ran, performed at or just attended many ‘Jam’ or Open mic nights. If you’ve attended these events you’ll know that they can be brilliant fun or painful. A thirty minute drunken blues jam always kills it for me.
The inspiration for this song is when your local guitar hero mate who you know can play guitar far better than you ever could declares he’s now a singer songwriter. They then go on to perform their own self penned masterpiece / mantle piece which leaves you stunned, wondering whether to laugh or cry. Even though I try to write my own songs I guess not all singer songwriters are for me

I’m gonna sing a crap song I’ve written just for you
It might not be a rock song, country , pop or blues

It won’t have many big words or a complex story line
It might only have three chords
If I think three chords works out fine

I’ll sing about my crap life And how the world hates me
About my failed love life, my insecurity

But I promise not to bore you with my politics or faith
So keep your red flags flying or wear your Blue Ties as you Pray

And so I sing this crap song I’ve called crap song blues
I know it’s not a good song it’s kind of rough and loose

But I hope it entertains you and that it makes you smile
Cos we’ve had nowt to laugh at for quite a long long time

So now I’ve sung my crap song, I’ve written just for you
I hope it’s not been too long,
Cuz not a word of it is true
