This is a Demo of a song I wrote reminiscing about times playing in the pubs and clubs around the North of England. This is a demo of the song I made before I’d finalised the lyrics and verses. I hope to get the finish version of the song recorded later this year

From Friday to Monday, I would play my guitar
Round all the hot spots of Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire
Sometimes a Smokey Pub, Welfare or Social Club
We’d like to pretend that we were Stars

But now it seems so long ago
Since they went and closed this Towns Miners Welfare down

We had Bingo for Mother with a Pie and Pea supper
And in between games all the turns would perform
Close knit Communities built around industries
Sadly that have now all but gone

I doubt we’ll ever see them back
Or taste the smoke from Nutty Slack
On our fire as it burns

Oh how I long to be back in the bar
Of the Collier’s Alms with my family and friends
Playing games long forgotten now there’s something more modern
It’s a shame that it all had to end

We were young we were strong we were proud
Of the lives that we lived the jobs that we did
But they’re even gone now

So from Friday to Monday I still play my Guitar
But at home in my bedroom or with the dog by the fire
Thinking of times we enjoyed in the past
It’s a shame that they just couldn’t last,
