I wrote this song about one of my musical heroes ‘Bo Diddly’.

Ellas McDaniel was Born in 1928
McComb Mississippi the United States
He didn’t care much for School
Yet he was smart and he was tough
He had a mind that was creative
And he could fight with Boxing Gloves Hit Me!


His Mamma bought him a guitar
So he taught himself to play
He wrote all his own songs and did things all his own way
He learned his trade the hard way on Chicago’s Maxwell Street,
He had Jerome Green, on Maracas who added rhythm to his beat

He worked real hard as he was searching for fame
He got a real hot band and then he even changed his name
He said ‘call me Bo Diddley’ ‘Because I am the Man’
Who’s gonna make, you shake your booty
and get you up to dance ‘Shake your hips girls’

And he said Hey Bo Diddley
And the ladies replied Oooh Bo Diddley!

Repeat Hey Bo Diddley Woah Bo Diddley!

Now one day as he played late into the night
This Cadillac pulled up and it’s got four headlights (nice Car)
Out steps a man with a big fat cigar
He said sign right here I’m gonna make you a star (He wasn’t kiddin’ ya)

So Bo cut a hit record later that week
And he went on to make 16 albums in just eight years
His gorgeous sister ‘Duchess’ she joined the band too
And they all became legends of rhythm & blues (and that’s true)

And they sang Hey Bo Diddley, Ooh Mona, Cops and Robbers,
Before you accuse me, I’m a man, I’m a Roadrunner, oh Yer
